Photo Lab Shootout
How do prints from professional labs compare to ones from Walmart and Costco? Is there a difference among labs? How do prints compare to what you see on a profiled monitor?
Come see for yourself at the PPW Northwest District / Bellingham Photographers Photo Lab Shootout. We’ll have prints, made from the same set of files, from Miller’s, White House, Simply Color, H&H, ACI, MPix, ProDCI, Bay Photo, Quicksilver, Mellis Photography, Costco, and Walmart. If every lab is running a calibrated and profiled system we won’t see much difference.
If there’s little difference among prints, how do you get your prints to match what you see on your screen? The folks at Quicksilver will share a little about monitor profiling.
The other question that arises if prints look pretty similar, is how to do you choose a lab? Customer service? Quick turnaround? Free shipping? Easy online ordering system? Product selection? Local vs. out of town? Share your story of why you chose your lab (or why you’re switching after this meeting).
Thanks to Quicksilver <http://quicksilverphotolab.com/> for hosting and providing some beverages and light snacks for this meeting.
