Light Anything is a deep dive into mastering light—no matter what’s in front of your lens. From matte to mirror-shiny, textured to glass-smooth, we’ll explore how light behaves across every surface and shape. You’ll learn to see and control the physics behind reflection, refraction, diffusion, and transmission—whether it’s bouncing softly off fabric, carving across metal, glowing through liquid, or scattering through haze.

We’ll start in 3D software, breaking down lighting principles in a perfectly controlled environment where you can see what’s really happening. Then, we’ll bring it to life in the studio—translating digital understanding into hands-on control of real light and real subjects. You’ll see how the inverse square law shapes falloff and mood, how catchlights reveal your setup, and how to sculpt light to tell a story, not just expose a scene.

By the end, you won’t just know how to light—you’ll understand why light behaves the way it does. You’ll be ready to confidently approach any object, any surface, any environment—and truly, light anything.

A little bit about Jeahn:

Jeahn Laffitte is a commercial photographer and educator based in Wyoming who loves helping photographers finally get lighting. Through his studio, Jeahn Laffitte Photography, and his teaching platform, Luma University, he breaks down the confusing stuff into clear, real-world lessons you can actually use.

Specializing in product, beauty, and headshot photography, Jeahn has partnered with brands like Westcott, Tether Tools, Studio Titan America, and Elixxier Software. Don’t head home after Innovate just yet! Stay for the PPW Business Institute, a focused day designed to help you reset your mindset and strengthen your photography business for the year ahead.

The morning begins with motivational speaker and formal professional athlete, Joe Thornton presenting “See Ball, Get Ball: Adopting the Athletic Mindset.” In this powerful and interactive 2–3 hour workshop, Joe will guide photographers through a process of clarifying priorities, eliminating distractions, and identifying the goals that truly matter in their businesses. Drawing on lessons from athletics, leadership, and professional development, Joe challenges participants to adopt a disciplined mindset and commit to intentional growth. By the end of the session, you’ll have defined three clear business goals and built a focused plan for achieving them.

In the afternoon, the Business Institute shifts from inspiration to implementation. Participants will roll up their sleeves and spend time working directly on their own businesses—reviewing metrics, pricing strategies, and sales systems while preparing materials for upcoming PPW proficiency evaluations. A full day on location with Woody Walters

Join Master Photographer Woody Walters on location and explore the Palouse through the eyes of Black and White landscape photography. There is a heavy focus on composition, tonality, and design choices.

“I invite you to spend a day with me, shoot with me, and let us expand our vision” Woody says. “Instead of re-acting, let us focus on creating. Let us look, feel, and then see. Then by knowing our craft let us take what we see and share it with our viewer.”

Woody will be shooting film (4x5) and explaining the process. We’ll start with a meetup in Spokane to go over details for the day and some tips on what to look for. We'll form a caravan as we travel. We’ll visit 3 locations throughout the day, ending at sunset at Steptoe Butte. We’ll have an extended lunch break in Colfax (waiting for the mid-day sun to pass) and a quick “dinner/snack” break before the sunset photos. It’s recommended to register with a travel buddy.

PPW and PPA members can regisiter for a discounted price of $125. Non-members for $159. Meals and lodging not included.

This is a rare in-person opportunity to learn from an award winning photographer whose passion is teaching others how to level up their photography.

About Woody:

Woody Walters, has been a photographer since 1977. He has a Master degree in Photography, his Master's Artist degree, and his Master Craftsmen degree. His black and white images have been collected by museums and galleries all over the world including the Hoyt Institute of Art, Yugo International Museum, Tampa Museum of Art and the Orlando Museum of Art . His print “Edna” is even in Ansel Adam’s private collection. His fine art tabletop book “Visions of Florida'' was voted best photographic book released that year.
